FAISALABAD - The nation needs to take steps to materialise the vision of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah by shunning prejudice and discrimination, ensuring women and minority rights, quality education and promotion of peace and brotherhood in society.
This was crux of speeches made at the two-day seminar entitled “Jinnah’s Vision of Pakistan” arranged by Government College University Faisalabad’s Department of History and Pakistan Studies which was chaired by Vice Chancellor Dr Zakir Hussain. The guest of honour was writer and ex-president Supreme Court Bar Council Abid Hassan Minto whereas Faculty of Management and Administrative Sciences Dean Dr Shahbaz Arif, Dean Arts & Social Science Dr Pervez Azeem, Director Colleges Rana Munawar Khan, Dr Umer Jameel, MPA Mian Muhammad Rafique and Department In-charge Dr Abdul Qadir Mushtaq also spoke on the occasion.
Abid Hassan Minto said that it was a matter of grave concern that discipline was lacking in society that must be ensured by spread the message of the founder of the nation. He called for ending the culture of feudalism to ensure the rights of the common man. He stressed the need for the participation of the women in the development as per saying of the Quaid. He said that Pakistan was fortunate enough to have countless blessings of Allah Almighty with the four seasons, sunny days all the year, and natural reservoirs. But the deficiency lies on the part of the nation who has not got the fruits of these because of lack of knowledge.
On the occasion, Dr Zakir Hussain announced setting up Quaid-e-Azam Chair at the campus to spread his message with the seed money of Rs0.5 million.
He urged the people to follow the great leader message ‘faith, discipline and unity. Implication of the Quaid’s message of ‘work, work and work’ is also the need of the hour to compete with the world.
He said that Pakistan had turned 65 years but the nation was still facing numerous challenges. He added that Pakistani youth was consisting of 90 million who can open up new avenue of progress by equipping themselves with the knowledge. He urged the students to be honest with them, their parents and studies.
Dr Shahbaz Arif said that the students were the future-builder and they should come forward as a servant of Muslims. He also presented different speeches of Quaid before the gathering.
Rana Munawar said that Quaid wanted a state where there brotherhood flourished and no place prejudice to present a model to the world. He also highlighted Quaid’s vision of welfare of masses especially the poor.
Muhammad Rafique said that the menace of nepotism and lawlessness must be eradicated by taking tangible steps to overcome the issues.
