Bank staffers thwart robbery bid in Kasur

KASUR - Bank staffers thwarted a robbery bid while a customer sustained injuries when robbers fired shots into the air at Kanganpur town Friday.
Five robbers stormed a private bank in Kangapur and held the people inside hostage. Meanwhile, the bank manager overpowered one of the outlaws, encouraging the security guards to pounce upon the bandits. The action compelled the bandit to run away. However, their aerial firing wounded a customer, Muhammad Nadeem, who was rushed to hospital. On Chunian Road, Dacoits shot dead a man when he offered resistance. The deceased was identified as Naveed. Woman gunned down: A woman was gunned down over old enmity at Village Tiba Mundayki in Changa Manga police limits.
Meanwhile, a speedy car crushed to death a cyclist on Chunian-Pattoki Road near Jagowala Chak 4 in Pattoki police limits. The dead is identified as Muhammad Asghar.
Protest against Lesco: Scores of villagers staged a demonstration against Lesco. The protesters blocked the Illahabad Chunian Road and chanted slogans against the company for its failure in serving the people.
They said that they have been making a litany of complaints to the authorities concerned but to no avail.
They pointed out that the company was not replacing a faulty transformer for the last four days, leaving the area in blackout.  However, they dispersed peacefully on the assurance of Chunian SHO Tariq Khan.
