HAFIZABAD - Deficiency of iodine is an important cause of mental retardation, deafness, cretinism and goiter, an expert said.
Addressing a seminar in a local school organised jointly by Health Department and Micronutrient Initiative, Field Officer Ehtshamul Haq of Universal Iodization Programme said that iodized salt is vital for mental and physical growth of youth and for better I.Q. level.
He urged the students to use only iodized salt for their better performance in the examinations. Prominent among those who addressed the seminar included Muhammad Ashraf and Muhammad Naeem Iqbal, school principal.
The principal advised the students to create awareness among the youth regarding the use of iodized salt.
