JAIPUR – Exposing the nexus between Bhartia Janta Party (BJP) and the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) for breeding Hindu terrorism, Indian Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, in a ground-breaking confession said Sunday Samjhauta, Makkah Masjid and Malegaon blasts were carried out by the two parties.
Speaking at Congress’s Chintar Shivir at Jaipur, Shinde said: “We have reports that RSS, BJP camps are promoting Hindu terror in the country.”
He alleged that RSS was behind Samjhauta, Makkah Masjid and Malegaon blasts.
“Reports have come during investigation that BJP and RSS conduct terror training camps to spread terrorism; Bombs were planted in Samjhauta Express and Makkah Masjid and also a blast was carried out in Malegaon.” Considering this a serious security threat, Shinde further said, “We will have to think about it seriously and will have to remain alert.”
“On one hand we are trying to bring peace in this country. We are also taking steps against injustice to minorities as also against infiltration. But, in the midst of all this, we have got an investigation report that be it the RSS or BJP, their training camps are promoting Hindu terrorism. We are keeping a strict vigil on all this,” Shinde said. Remaining steadfast on his stance Shinde defended his allegation by saying, “This has come so many times in the papers… It is not a new thing that I have said today.”
Relating this to notorious Saffron Terror often related to fundamental Hindu Right Wing groups which have previously been alleged for terrorism he said, “This is saffron terrorism that I have talked about. It is the same thing and nothing new. It has come in the media several times,” the home minister said.
The then home minister of India, P Chidambaram had urged Indians to beware of Saffron terror on August 25, 2010 at a meeting of state police chiefs in New Delhi, first time the word was officially used.
A storm is also raging at this brazen statement that has removed the lid from an open-secret, Social Media is flooded by mixed reactions. Hindu extremists who use this medium for their activities are terming this an attack on Hinduism. Dozens of Pakistanis had lost lives in Samjhauta Express incident.
Meanwhile, leaders of the Indian Congress have defended Shinde. “There is no Hindu or Muslim terrorism. What he meant was right wing terrorism,” said Minister of State for Parlianmentary Affairs Rajeev Shukla about Shinde’s remark.
“We have known this for long. Shinde had the courage to say it,” Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar told reporters.
