WHO doctor shot dead in Karachi


KARACHI- A doctor of World Health Organisation (WHO) was gunned down here in the remits of Sohrab Goth police station on Friday.
Police said gunmen riding a motorbike shot Muhammad Ishaq Kakar, 38, who was standing outside Sana Clinic located in Junejo Goth, Sohrab Goth. The assailants managed to flee while the victim was taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Besides running his own clinic, Muhammad Ishaq was also associated with anti-polio drive initiated by the WHO. The deceased was a resident of Quetta.
It is pertinent to mention here that this was the second attack on the medical staffers associated with the anti-polio drive in Karachi. A WHO doctor narrowly escaped an attack on him two days ago in the same locality where it is believed outlawed TTP has influence.
In another incident, one Arif Khanzada, 28, was sitting at his mobile phone shop when gunmen on a motorbike targeted him and managed to flee. The victim sustained bullet wounds and rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
