FAST varsity offers incentives for flood-hit talented students

PESHAWAR - To encourage talented students to pursue quality education at an affordable cost and to promote a culture of collectivism in the country, the administration of the Foundation for Advancement of Science and Technology (FAST)-National University Peshawar campus has given 50 per cent concession in fee to its students.
“Recognizing the negative economic fallout of terrorism, floods devastation and ongoing excessive energy crisis in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the administration of the University has offered special concession to its students in MBA and BBA discipline,” Dr Fazl-e-Raziq, Director FAST University said while addressing a news conference on Wednesday here at the Press Club.
He said that the decision of giving concession reflects the desire to promote quality education and encourage talented students to avail opportunities at their doorstep.
He explained that the university is a premier institution, charted by the federal government with its campuses in Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Faisalabad offering Bachelor, Master and PhD programs in Engineering, Computer Sciences, and Business Administration. He also added that its programme was duly accredited by Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) and National Computing Education Accreditation Council (NCEAC) and other relevant bodies.
Fkalnked by Muhammad Zeb, faculty member and Azem Khan, Prof Qayyum said that it enjoys its unique distinction among other universities. It is neither a public sector university to accommodate some amount of political interference nor a pure private university. The entire revenue it generates is invested in state of the art infrastructure and faculty, he claimed.
The University, he said was established by a few philanthropists with a mission to promote quality education in Pakistan, which could meet the demand of the 21st century. Now it is being run by a Governing Board of eminent persons on voluntary basis.
The concession is a great favour to the aspiring students of this province, that would certainly enable many talented students to get access to quality education, otherwise would not be possible due to financial constrains, he remarked.
