ISLAMABAD - The united opposition after a gap of couple of months may, once again, adopt a unanimous stance in the National Assembly on new prime minister’s election day, as second largest opposition party (JUI-F) in the House is unlikely to support ruling alliance PPP.Though the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (Fazl) clearly distanced itself from recent ‘Go-Gilani-go’ campaign in and outside the House till passing the federal budget (2012-13) but now after this changed political scenario the religio-political party will put weight behind the largest opposition party (PML-N) on PM’s election day in the National Assembly.Playing a role of real opposition party, JUI-F spokesman said they would not support Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) but the PML-N will have to take them into confidence about their future strategy. “JUI-F will not blindly follow the plan of PML-N as after thorough discussion things will be decided,” said JUI-F leader talking to TheNation. Background interviews and discussions with opposition parties member has also given this impression that the unanimous stance of opposition parties in the National Assembly would be seen on PM’s election day.It would not be out of place to mention here that the JUI-F having their old reservations with Pakistan Muslim League (N) had joined hands with major opposition party in protest against PPP-led government policies during Presidential address. The rare unity of opposition parties also forced leader of opposition in the national assembly Chaudhary Nisar to say that all opposition parties are united they would evolve a joint strategy in future. But, both the opposition parties remained on same page for not more than a fortnight as JUI-F once again distanced itself from PML-N and devised a strategy to not to support them. Both the parties even exchanged hot words as JUI-F went to say they would not accept Chaudhary Nisar as leader of opposition in the National Assembly. In his response, the Leader of Opposition in the National Assembly Ch Nisar asked Maulana Fzalur Rahman to make his mind and choose opposition or treasury benches inspite of adopting a middle way.The verbal brawl between the two parties started when the largest opposition party has adopted a stance against former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani after his conviction to not allow him to enter in the Parliament, while JUI-F had shown altogether difference on it. The gap further widened when the JUI-F support in favour of PPP candidate for election of the chairman of parliamentary committee on appointment of the Chief Election Commissioner. The visible division of opposition on the issue of long march against Gilani, resolution for the support of Southern Punjab province and controversy of Prime Minister’s entrance in Parliament was witnessed in recent past.
