LAHORE- A special anti-terrorism court (ATC) today granted bail to 44 workers of the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) held during a deadly clash with police in Model Town on June 17, 2014.
At least 12 PAT workers were killed and 90 others wounded when police tried to remove barricades from the office of Minhaj ul Quran Secretariat in Lahore. Lawyers representing the PAT’s workers argued that police failed to produce any evidence against their clients.
Judge Khalid Mahmood, after hearing arguments of two sides, accepted their bail plea and directed them to submit surety bonds of Rs100,000.
