ISLAMABAD- Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Khursheed Shah has said that PMLN Minister Rana Sanaullah had been made scapegoat by Punjab government in the Lahore tragedy case.
Talking to journalists today after attending a candle light vigil in the memory of late MQM MNA Tahira Asif, Khursheed Shah said Rana Sanaullah’s dismissal shows that there was ‘nigger in the woodpile’.
He said that disappearance of Chaudhry Nisar from national scene is posing serious question especially in the scenario of operation in NWA. Shah feared that there could be a backlash of the military operation. Under these circumstances, absence of Chaudhry Nisar Ali is a matter of serious concern, he commented. “Chaudhry Nisar is keeping a key portfolio, his absence leaves a question mark on the government,” he said. “I have no idea what is going on within the ruling party at a time when Pakistan is passing through a critical phase,” he opined. Khursheed Shah said rallies and public meetings do not generally topple government, and the government should also focus on solving the issues adding that governments topple due to their own fatal mistakes. Regarding return of Dr Tahir ul Qadri to Pakistan, he said that if he was country he would definitely go to receive Tahir Ul Qadri.
He said that PPP leader Benazir Bhutto rendered enormous sacrifices for democracy and had always put forward public interest instead of her own personal interests. Workers of all parties should learn lesson from life of Benazir Bhutto and strengthen democracy.
Khursheed said that the future of the country lies in democracy. Some anti state elements do not want democracy to flourish adding that his party supports democracy as it is the only way to solve problems. Political and religious parties instead of coming out on streets should table their demands in the parliament which is the best forum to deal with all matters, he said.
