Session on use of iodised salt

BHAKKAR - The School Health and Nutrition Supervisors have been tasked with sensitizing and raising aware among schoolchildren regarding the use of iodised salt to curb the iodine deficiency disorder (IDD).
EDO (Health) Dr Malik Muhammad Aslam stated this while addressing an orientation session of the SH&NSs of Bhakkar district organised by the Health Department in collaboration with Micronutrient Initiative Pakistan (MIP).
District Focal Person Iodine Programme, Dr Suleman Zahid briefed the SH&NSs on the IDDs and its solution of using of iodized salt on regular basis. He sensitized the participants that they could play a vital role to save the children from low IQ, mental and physical retardation.

On the occasion, MIP Coordinator Muddasir Shehzad also advised the SH&NSs to build capacity of their Basic Health Unit (BHU) staff through training sessions so that they could deliver the message to promote the use of iodized salt.
