LAHORE- Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said peace is the secret of progress and prosperity while an atmosphere of lawlessness promotes insecurity in the society besides leaving a negative impact on development projects, as Pakistan needs peace more than ever before. In a message on World Peace Day, the chief minister said Islam is a religion of peace and harmony and declares murder of an innocent person as the murder of entire humanity. He said today when international community is celebrating Peace Day, Pakistan is facing the challenge of terrorism. However, he said, the whole nation is united and determined to root out the scourge of terrorism. He said Punjab government is utilising all available resources for maintaining an atmosphere of peace and tranquility and protection of life and property of the people. However, he said, cooperation of masses is of paramount importance for elimination of terrorism and it is need of the hour that people should work shoulder to shoulder with the government for eradicating the menace of terrorism and violence.
