PESHAWAR - Five People including four policemen, among them an ASI, were killed as unidentified militants attacked a police convoy on Kohat Road near Zangali Checkpost wounding two policemen also some 20 kilometers from Peshawar on Monday.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of Badbher police station, Garanullah Khan told a media organization that the militants attacked two policemen near Zangli checkpost injuring them seriously.
He said the wounded policemen were being evacuated when the militants attacked the rescue party killing five including an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI), three constables and a driver of the ambulance which was evacuating the injured. Khan said the injured policemen have been shifted to Lady Reading Hospital for treatment. No militant group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, which follows a recent surge in the Pakistani Taliban violence after its decision to not extend the ceasefire with the Pakistani government.
Two gunned down in Peshawar
Two people were killed when unidentified gunmen opened fire at a vegetable market in Chamkani area of Peshawar on Monday morning.
Police said unidentified armed men opened fire on Inqelab Road at vegetable market that killed two people and injured another. The bodies and injured were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities. Police have initiated investigation and arrested a suspect from the incident site.
