ISLAMABAD- Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid today stressed the need to promote book and knowledge for eradication of hatred and extremism from the society.
Addressing a ceremony in connection with National Books Day in Islamabad, he said Pakistan to dump all those books, which are spreading extremism. He said book reading can transform the society into cradle of peace. The minister said books promote love, peace and harmony among human beings, adding hate materials can lead society to disharmony and chaos. Pervaiz Rashid said good books encourage dialogue, tolerance and listening to others viewpoints. He said the language of books should be preferred on language of guns. He directed National Book Foundation to make arrangements for digitizing Pakistani literature, which is essential for promotion of Pakistani books. He also urged for organization of such events in other parts of the country.
