Power tariff likely to go down by Rs.1 per unit

Islamabad- Power consumers would find a sigh of relief in next month bills as the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) has approved Rs. 1 nominal cut in the rate of power under the head fuel price adjustment.
The regulatory authority under the fuel price adjustment for the month of March would approve this cut in power tariff, which was sought by the central power purchasing agency (CPPA) under a monthly fuel price adjustment mechanism. But, lifeline consumers use 50 units in a month would not benefit with this cut in power price besides power consumers of K-Electric formerly known as Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC). Price of Furness Oil and dollar rate was dropped last month so authorities decided to convey this benefit to the masses who would pay Re.1 per unit less price of electricity in next month bills.
