Withdrawal of fuel surcharge from electricity bills demanded


CHINIOT - Accusing the Fesco of ruining the industrial, commercial and social life, the inhabitants of the city have rejected ‘fuel adjustment charge’ in electricity bills.
As per detail, the Fesco has violated the order of the Lahore High Court (LHC) whereby it has directed the Pepco authorities not to charge fuel adjustment from the consumers. The Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Fesco), blatant defiance, has been recovering fuel adjustment charge, making life difficult for the already hard-pressed consumers and stoking up violence. The Pepco authorities has been also recovering surcharge in the name of Neelam-Jehlam project.
The people of the city said that the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) and the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (Lesco) were illegally receiving the fuel adjustment surcharge for the last several months. They appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to save the masses the high handedness of Wapda authorities.
Chinioti opens road project: Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has approved special grant for 51/2-km long Chiniot-Sahiayanwala Road. MPA Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Chinioti said this while speaking at the foundation-laying ceremony here the other day.
He said the government was spending Rs150 million on the reconstruction of Chiniot-Sahiayanwala Road to provide better means of communication to the people. He said that the road will be completed within stipulated time. While talking to the media men after the ceremony, he said this road was constructed in 2005 but due to the use of substandard martial the road was broken before its opening. Maulana Chinioti appraised Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif for solving problems of the area.
He warned that strict disciplinary action would be taken against the contractors and the officials concerned if quality of work was not maintained.

He also announced the name of 15 members Youth Wing organizing committee for district Chiniot.
He further said that the country was facing many challenges. Dearness has made the life of poor people miserable. He said that only the PML-N could get rid of such hardships and problems of the masses.
Later, he distributed copy of the notification to district youth organization members. According to notification, Ch Muhammad Farooq Gujar selected as district organizer and Haji Irshad Ahmad Secretary General and members Shahid Mehmood, Nisar Ahmad, Sajid Perveen. Moreover the selected members of Lalian included Ch Ouranzab, Mian Nosheer Bata, Lal Khan, Syed Feezan Shah, Ch Abdul Aziz Asghar Jut, M Sadiq Shehzad, Dr Sarfraz, Javiad Saleem Gujar and Joriya Shehzadi.
