HAFIZABAD - DCO Muhammad Asif has stressed the need for integrated and concrete steps by the Health Department to eliminate polio from the area.
While chairing the district anti-polio committee meeting held here Friday, the DCO said that unfortunately polio could not be eliminated mainly due to the negligence of the staff concerned. He warned that in future no negligence in the anti-polio campaign would be tolerated and stern action would be taken against the work shirkers.
The DCO also warned the monitoring team who failed to make strict monitoring. The meeting was attended by EDO (Education) Dr Iqbal Naeem, EDO (Health) Dr Asif Ali Khan and World Health Organisation’s representative Ammir Ihsan. The meeting was told that 3-day anti-polio campaign is being launched in the district from Jan 30 for which special teams have been constituted for administering anti-polio drops to 1,76,000 kids below 5 years. WHO representatives said that Union Council Secretaries, school teachers, Imam Masjid and doctors would be associated to ensure success of the anti-polio campaign in the district.
