RAWALPINDI - nknown robbers struck in an outlet of Utility Store Corporation (USC) and a house and plundered Rs 0.4 million cash, gold jewellery and mobile phones at gunpoint.
Similarly, auto thieves operating in the city without any fear of police took away four cars and five motorcycles from different localities of the city, informed sources here on Monday.
According to sources, four armed robbers arrived at a USC outlet at Dhoke Munshi at 3:15pm and made the entire staff and consumers hostage at gunpoint. Later, they collected Rs 400,000 cash and fled from the scene. A fleeing robber slightly injured the security guard of USC by giving a punch on his face and snatched and took away his pistol with him, the sources added.
Likewise, an armed robber entered the house of Dr Abdul Malik and pointed gun at his wife. The robber then snatched gold ornaments and 2 mobile phones from the lady and managed to escape on a motorcycle. Police filed the case and started searching the robber.
On the other hand, a Toyota hiace (LWN-1917) of Altaf Hassan was stolen by unknown car lifters from the limits of police station cantonment and a Suzuki pickup (TQ-138) and a car (LZV-1461) were lifted from the limits of PS airport while a car (GA-1439) was taken away by unknown auto theft gang from the area of PS Sadiqabad.
Five motorcycles (RIK-9351, SR-764, RL-3253, LZE-8097, RIK-6662) were also pilfered by vehicle lifters from the areas of police stations New Town, Sadiqabad, Race Course and airport. Police registered the cases with no arrest or recovery till filing of this report.
