Police smash 13 criminals cartels

MULTAN - The district police claimed to have smashed at least 13 gangs of outlaws and arrested 50 gangsters besides recovering booty worth over Rs6 million from them during a special drive against anti-social elements. Sources said that six motorbikes, one tractor, one air-conditioner, one car, two computers, one DVD player, seven water pumps, two Kalashnikovs, one rifle 222 bore, one rifle M-16, one repeater and bullets were recovered from the arrested gangsters. The sources said that the special drive was launched on order of CPO Amir Zulfiqar Khan and 101 persons were found in possession of illicit arms and were subsequently arrested. The police recovered 68 illegal pistols, seven revolvers, two carbines, one mouser, eight repeaters, three shot guns, four Kalashnikovs and 257 bullets, Similarly, 195 narcotics cases were registered and 197 accused arrested. Police recovered about 14 kilogram charas, 1685 bottles of liquor, 2665 gram of heroine and other drugs from them. The police also launched crackdown on proclaimed offenders and arrested 106 POs besides 16 absconders. Meanwhile, the CPO Amir Zulfiqar Khan has asked the SPs and DSPs to win publics trust by promoting community policing. He directed them to hold meetings with UC office bearers, traders and journalists and listen to publics problems to lift the image of the force. He said that police could not uproot crimes without masses support. He further asked police officials to exhibit zero tolerance on corruption and crimes. He said that press was an important pillar of state and police could eliminate anti-social elements with its collaboration.
