CM underscores accountability to save system

RAHIM YAR KHAN-If we fail to change the current system on war footings than a blood revolution will wash away everything that comes in its way.
Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif stated this while addressing 2nd convocation of Sheikh Zayed Medical College (SZMC) here at Khalifah Public School auditorium here on Tuesday.
The Punjab CM emphasised the need for self-accountability, saying that only accountability would rejuvenate this system otherwise it would collapse. Shahbaz Sharif regretted that the government had spent billions of rupees on the health sector but still there was no medical facility available to the poor. He informed that he felt disappointed when he knew that resources of this country had been misused and looted mercilessly. He said that today was one of the memorable days for young doctors who had passed their graduation and now they would to take care of the patients of cancer, cardiac, TB and other major diseases.
“Listen ooh my children go and serve the ailing humanity with dedication and enthusiasm to get prayers which are, in fact, the real medals,” he emphasised, adding that job in the health sector was really challenging and doing job as a doctor was a commitment to serve the humanity. He claimed that the government had provided billions of rupees for the promotion of quality education which, in fact, was investment for the bright future of the country. The Punjab CM declared that these young girls and boys were the future of this nation and that he proud of them. Shahbaz Sharif pointed out that neighbouring countries were providing quality healthcare to their people, saying that Sri Lanka had made great strides in health sector. He informed that the government was providing treatments for all fatal diseases like cancer, cardiac, hepatitis and others in all civil hospitals.
He declared that the government would spare no effort for the development of the health sector to ensure quality healthcare to the common man, adding that the government would utilise all out resources for the wellbeing of the doctor community.
Earlier, SZMC Principal Dr Muhammad Saeed presented the college’s report. Dr Saeed informed that that PCR lab, MRI facility, new emergency block, ICU building and cardiac surgery had been started in the hospital.
Convocation Organising Committee Secretary Dr Tariq Rehan welcomed the guests in his speech. Vice Chancellors, Provincial ministers, MPAs, MNAs and a large number of notables of the city participated in the ceremony.
