Zamzama gas field closure may affect IPPs

Lahore  - There is no gap between electricity demand and supply as loadshedding has ended throughout the country, stated Energy Management Cell on Wednesday. “The Wednesday’s generation was 12,550 mw and same was the demand in urban and rural limits of the country,” said the spokesperson for the EMC.  It is expected that there would be no gap between demand and supply but it totally depends on weather condition and fuel supply. It is also expected that due to the closure of Zamzama gas field for annual overhauling, the gas supply to power sector will be affected for at least three days.According to Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) official, 190 million cubic feet gas supply will be cut that may affect the electricity generation of Independent Power Producers (IPPs).The official said that gas field will likely be closed for three weeks.
