Plea for addition of espionage law to FIR rejected

LAHORE - Additional District and Sessions Judge Hussnain Qadir Ghallu on Tuesday disposed of a petition seeking addition of Section 7 of Anti-terrorism Act and provisions of espionage law in an FIR lodged against the double murder accused, US national Raymond Davis. The court mentioned in its orders that petition was not maintainable and as it went under the jurisdiction of a trial court concerned with handling the case of Davis. Earlier, the court had sought comments from SHO Lytton Road in this regard, who presented his report on Tuesday. As per details, an advocate Ilamuddin had filed the petition in the court contending that Raymond Davis committed a heinous crime falling under sections of Anti-Terrorism Act. He said that police had also recovered the hi-tech equipment from the accused which was only used by spies. He had implored the court to add sections of ATA and Espionage Act in the FIR. But the court on Tuesday disposed of the petition with the remarks that it could not direct the SHO to add the desired law and demanded Section in the lodged FIR against US national Raymond Davis.
