Women role talked to enhance GDP growth


SIALKOT - The women entrepreneurs from Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala and Gujrat Wednesday urged the government to provide them maximum opportunities so that they could play their role in growth of GDP.
Addressing a seminar on ‘Development of the women entrepreneurs in Punjab,’ held here at Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) building, the speakers including Central and North Punjab Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNWCC) President Kokab Parveen said, “Only the women know what a woman wants.”
Kokab Parveen stressed upon the need of establishing a close liaison among the women entrepreneurs and girls’ educational institutes to encourage the women to come forward and join business field. She also demanded establishing of Sialkot Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry at Sialkot to help the local business women.
Kokab said that CNWCCI would soon establish Entrepreneurship Development Institute (EDI) for offering the different degree courses to working women and helping them to establish their own outlets for small businesses. She said that the CNWCCI would assist the women entrepreneurs in developing their business through the One Window System. During the seminar, the businesswomen pledged to play their pivotal role with their male colleagues for boosting and strengthening the national economy. They urged the federal government to also take the women entrepreneurs into confidence before making the annual fiscal budget of the country. They said that women role in boosting the national economy was vital, as they could also play an instrumental role in bringing boom in the national economy.
A delegation of CNPWCCI met the representatives of Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and discussed the matters of mutual interest with the women SMEs.
FPCCI Vice President Sheikh Abdul Waheed Sandal, SCCI President Naeem Anwar Qureshi, senior journalists and women entrepreneurs from Gujranwala and Gujrat Chambers of Commerce and Industry were also present there.
