KARACHI - Hundreds of protestor from Lyari stages a demonstration against the State Minister for Ports and Shipping Nabeel Gabol, who earlier resigned from the ministry but later withdraw his resignation after meeting with Prime Minister Gilani on Friday. The protestors including men, women, children and elders reached Karachi Press Club on Saturday where they held a noisy demonstration against Gabol. Gabol was elected form their constituency of Lyari had not done nothing for his constituency, said protesters. The participants carrying placards inscribe with slogans Go Nabeel go and Nabeel Murder of Lyariites, they hanged shoes and slippers on a picture of Minster to symbolize their anger against the Minster. President of Lyari Amn Committee Shahid Rehamn addressing the emotionally charged demonstration said that the people of the area had cast around 80,000 votes to Gabol to make him victorious but the Nabeel instead of working for the welfare of the people and development of the area allegedly involved in creating law and order in Lyari. He alleged that Gabol patronised the gang war which claimed several lives and also destroyed the peace of the area. He said that that no one from Lyari was involved in Shershah Market massacre. He claimed that members of number of gangs in Lyari had got benefit through the gruesome incident. Surprisingly the demonstration was staged a day after Nabeel Gabol withdraw his resignation for the Cabinet. He said that promises made to the people of the area were not fulfilled. He said that the people of Lyari peace loving there are the people who loves sport and recreational activities and it would be wronged to paint them as People who could create law and order People of Lyari mostly youngster love and play foot ball which is their means of lively hood. He added that Lyari had also produced internationally famed boxers. The people of Lyari he declared him the responsible and people make him countable those who had work against the poor people of Lyari who wanted to live in peace and carry out their dial activities as hard working citizens. Shakeeb Baloch, Zafar Baloch Habib Jan also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the problems faced by the peace loving people of Lyari. Meanwhile, Advisor to Chief Minister Sindh on Information and Archives Sharmila Faruqui has said that the Government of Sindh has provided 20,033 ration bags in 11 districts, 52,562 tents in 14 districts, 460 water purification units in three districts and 34,576 blankets in five districts to the flood victims. This she said while talking regarding flood relief activities here at her office. She said that total weight of relief goods was more than 726 tons so far and the Sindh government with the assistance of International donors, NGOs and private sector would provide Rs400 million for the reconstruction of damaged houses and work was in progress in this regard. She said that comprehensive plans had been chalked out to rebuild the damaged houses and in order to rehabilitate the people, Sindh government was trying to save the flood victims from severe cold. Sharmila further said that present democratic government had focused its concentration on solving the issues and all economic challenges and financial issues would be resolved in consultation with political parties. She expressed her satisfaction over rehabilitation work and cooperation of the departments. She said that unless all departments work in collaboration, we could not achieve our desired goals. Sharmila said that six thousand houses would be built in different districts for flood victim people and the embankments were also being made strong and seventy crore rupees had been allocated for the purpose. She said that it would take six months more to implement all the plans for the rehabilitation and the representatives of donor agencies would come in March and finalise the things.
