Nadra contract employees demand job security


HYDERABAD/MIRPURKHAS/BADIN - A large number of contract employees of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) protested in various cities on the province on Sunday, demanding the government to regularise their jobs.
In Hyderabad, the employees protested and staged a sit-in outside the Press Club. They raised slogans against Nadra administration.
Addressing the participants, Nadra Employs’ Union Sindh office bearers Muhammad Raza Abbasi, Saeed Khan, Arif Ali and others said that they are working in Nadra on contract for the last teen years, but the government has not regularised their jobs despite announced by the Prime Minister and Federal Interior Minister.
hey said that they have being doing extra work which includes preparation of voter lists and data collecting of the rain-hit people to prepare Pakistan Cards. They warned the government of protest campaign across the province if their demands were not accepted.
Similarly in Mirpurkhas, scores of contract employees of Nadra, under the banner of NADRA Employees’ Welfare Association, held demonstration outside the Press Club, demanding the govt to regularise them without any delay. They, led by district coordinator Aamir Kaim Khani and Muhammad Arif, were carrying banners and placards. They chanted slogans in favour of their demands.
Talking to media, the protesters said the government should regularise jobs of the contract employees of Nadra who have been working for a decade. They said that injustice was being made against them and demanded President Asif Zardari and the Chief Justice of Pakistan to take notice of their issue and ensure regularisation of their jobs.
In Badin, scores of Nadra contract employees protested in front of the Press Club in favour of their demands. As per detail, the employees led by Ayaz, Azeem Wahero, Shoib Khaskheli, Yousaf Khamdani, Imran Shah, Israr Lohar and others chanted slogans against the administration.
