RAWALPINDII - The Excise and Taxation Department (ETD) on Wednesday sealed the main gate of a private educational institute after the owner failed to pay the professional tax with the department.
A team of ETD, led by Excise and Taxation Officer (ETO) Latif Ahmed, visited Noor Grammar School at Mohala Raja Sultan and asked the owner to show the team the receipts of tax payment. However, the administration could not provide the ETD officials the payment slips. On this the ETD locked the main gate of the school. ETO Latif Ahmed, when contacted, said that the tax was not deposited since 2004 despite repeated notices served to the owner.
He said that the total amount was Rs30,000 that the owner had to pay ETD. He said that the owner of the school was given January 22 as deadline to pay dues but he even though could not obey the orders. "The gate of school will be opened only after payment of dues," the ETO said.
