MARDAN - The residents of Toheed Colony, Mardan, on Sunday threatened that if the judiciary and government did not take action against the use of substandard materials in the roads, streets and other developmental works in the colony they would be compiled to stage protest rallies against the officials of the Communication and Works Department (CWD) and contractors.
Talking to a group of reporters at Mardan Press Club, Haji Mohammad Amin senior vice president, Dr.Abdur Rauf vice president, Faiz Muhammad Khan General Secretary and other office bearers of Ishlahi Aman Committee (IAC) said. They alleged that contactor who constructed the road and doing other works of the colony with the convenience of CNW high-ups and Awami National Party (ANP) office bearers used substandard materials and also left their colony work uncompleted and in this connection they several times orally and in written form, complaint the high-ups of CNW department.
They added that in this connection they also contacted Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Imran Khan and Owalsear Imtayaz Khan and other high-ups of the CNW department because in their supervision this work has been done but they have also closed their eyes on this issue. They further said that the contractor left the street where people are living while constructed the road towards the fields. They further said that their is problem of drainage in the colony and the mentioned contractor and CNW high-ups has promised the residents that they will solve this problem before the construction of the road but they left the drainage problem and constructed the road and finished the works. They added that the mentioned contractor also did not cement the sides of the roads. They pointed out that first part of the colony road has already been constructed few months ago but it is also now in poor condition due to uneven construction of the road. They said that the mentioned contractor also illegally left drain in the roads at some places which are dangerous. They demanded the Judiciary and Chief Minister Ameer Haidar Khan Hoti and director Anticorruption to take action in this connection. They added if any one do not take action in this connection then the residents of the area will be compelled to stage protest rallies in front of CNW office.
