Bugti murder case, Judgment reserved on Mush’s bail

QUETTA - The Balochistan High Court reserved the judgment on the bail application of former dictator Pervez Musharraf in the Nawab Akbar Bugti murder case on Monday. Pervez Musharraf filed appeal in the Balochistan High Court against rejection of his bail application by an anti terrorism court.
The division bench comprising Justice Ghulam Mustafa Mengal and Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan expressed dissatisfaction over the police performance, observing when Musharraf was not arrested, how police could send him into judicial custody and on what ground the court could grant him bail. Muhammad Ilyas Siddiqi, the counsel for Musharraf, argued that bail might be granted to the accused as the police had completed its interrogation and handed him into judicial custody. Sohail Ahmad Rajput, counsel for Nawabzada Jameel Akbar Bugti, opposed the petitioner, saying that police investigators on record admitted that the accused was not arrested. How the crime branch without arresting and interrogating the accused could send him into judicial custody, he argued.
The police submitted that the accused could not be brought to Quetta from Islamabad due to potential threats to his life by militant organisations and the precarious law and order situation of Balochistan.
The court reserved the judgment before adjourning the hearing.
