Pagara likely to meet Nawaz next week

LAHORE - As Pir of Pagara is expected to meet PML-N Quaid Mian Nawaz Sharif next week to discuss the proposed merger of PML factions, top leadership of PML-Q has mandated PML-F to initially negotiate with respect to seeking its political share in Punjab, as well as at the Centre with the PML-N in case he succeeds in making any breakthrough in this regard. Though the PML-N has not yet confirmed any such move from PML-F leadership about the meeting between the two party chiefs, however, leaders from PML-F insist that it would be held during next week. Sources in PML-Q, privy to the developments, about seeking partys 'political share told this scribe on Friday that such a mandate to Pagara is aimed at assessing the position of PML-N leadership in this regard besides striking a better political deal in case the PML-F chief succeeds in his mission. The PML-Q, while mandating PML-F, told its leadership that it would not bargain less than the stated formula. When contacted, Senator Kamil Ali Agha, Central Secretary Information PML-Q, confirmed about the mandate in question and said modalities about political share would be decided after a positive signal. He said under the stated mandate Pagara would take decisions about setting his strategy. When PML-N leader Senator Pervaiz Rashid was contacted vis-a-vis likely meeting between Nawaz Sharif and Pagara, he rejected the news reports in this regard, stressing that his party would make public its policy about the Leagues unification. He wondered that while PML-F was talking about the unification of Muslim Leagues it was sitting in Sindh and central governments, whereas the PML-N was playing the role of Opposition. The second supporter of unification, the PML-Q, he said had not only occupied the offices of Muslim Leagues but also played a major role in breaking the League. The PML-N leader said individuals in any faction of the League who did not play any role in the break-up of PML could come back to PML-N. About the notion of split in Muslim League vote, he, while rejecting the impression, said that PML-Q had no say among the masses, as it could not field a single candidate in any of the by-polls.
