QUETTA - Two terrorists were killed and a policeman wounded in a shootout at Western Bypass area on Monday, a police officer said. Deputy Inspector General (Operations) Qazi Wahid told the media that a police team flagged down a suspicious car near Hazara town but the driver drove away. Backed by Anti-Terrorist Force, police went after them.  He said the travellers fired shots at the law enforcers, wounding cop Riaz.
Two terrorists were killed when police fought off the attack, the DIG said, adding that police also seized arms, seven fake number plates and two NICs from them.
The bodies were shifted to Bolan Medical Complex for autopsy and, later, their bodies were kept at morgue. The identity of the suspects could not be ascertained yet.
“They were members of a group of target killers,” the DIG said, adding that they wanted to target some people in Quetta.
To a question, he said the ID cards found from the deceased were sent to Nadra for verification.
To another question, the DIG said strict security measures had been taken in the provincial capital following the surge in sectarian killings. Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Aslam Raisani lauded police personnel and announced Rs 500,000 reward for the police party.
