MULTAN-A group of five bandits including a police constable has been caught by police on the charge of looting the citizens after setting up pickets in different areas.
Police sources said that Constable Hassan, Razakaar Asad, Bilal, Imran and Fazal used to set up pickets in different areas of Sorraj Miani and looted citizens under the guise of documents checking.
Police received numerous complaints from the citizens that the personnel deployed at the pickets subjected them to physical torture besides looting their money.
The accused were wearing uniforms and busy checking documents of citizens’ vehicles when a police team conducted raid and caught them red handed. A case has been registered against the accused with Saddar police.
MANGO ROAD SOON: Multan will soon have a Mango Road as the Water Work Road is planned to be renamed as Mango Road and massive mango trees will be planted on both the sides of the road.
Sources disclosed that the district government had approved the project under a vision to promote local specialities.
Multan is known for unique taste and fragrance of its mangoes in the entire world and the fruit is now being shipped to developed world like the US, Europe and Australia.
Meanwhile, District Coordination Officer Zahid Saleem Gondal carried out surprising visit to road projects and reprimanded Wasa officials for placing debris on Khanewal Road and causing blockade in traffic flow.
He asked the authorities to accomplish sewerage projects as soon as possible. The DCO also issued order for developing green belt on Hussain Agahi Road and directed the authorities to eliminate encroachments for the launching of this project.
PROTEST AS YOUTH KILLED: Nawabpur Road turned into a battlefield following a murder as the heirs of the deceased blocked the road, burnt tyres and carried out massive break and burn activity here on Wednesday.
Police said that one Sheikh Gagga stabbed to death Shakil following a tiny dispute and escaped.
The heirs of the deceased took to the road and blocked it for six hours.
Heavy police contingents reached the spot but failed to convince the protestors to open the road. Meanwhile, a police party conducted raids to catch the accused but he was still at large.
