Federal Cabinet meets today with heavy agenda

ISLAMABAD - Besides discussing law and order situation in Karachi, the federal cabinet meeting will take up draft bill on regulating Haj, Umra, Ziarat Business 2008, today (Wednesday). The cabinet meeting in the chair of Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani will discuss regulating Haj, Umra, Ziarat pros and cons of draft bill, which had been moved by PML(Q) legislator Riaz Fatiyana in 2009. The bill was moved aiming to regulate these affairs. As per other agenda items, the cabinet would also discuss the status of implementation of cabinet decisions pertaining to Overseas Pakistani, Railways Religious Affairs and Revenue Divisions. Approval, in principle, of the Cabinet would be made to enter into formal negotiations on air services agreement between Pakistan and Latvia while Pak-French joint declaration on economic and commercial partnership would also be made. Besides, approval for signing the agreement between the governments of Pakistan and Senegal on cooperation in combating the illicit trafficking of narcotics drugs, psychotropic substances and precursor chemicals would also be taken up. Approval to start negotiations, signing and ratification of the agreement on cooperation and mutual assistance in customs matters between Pakistan and Sri Lanka would also be made. Approval regarding amendment and signing of protocol to the agreement between governments of Pakistan and Brunei Darussalam would also be made for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of the fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income. Approval in principle would also be given of the cabinet for initiation of the negotiations on MoU on scientific and technological cooperation between the governments of Pakistan and Russian federation.
