Lahore- Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader and former President Asif Ali Zardari held in- camera meeting with Pakistan Muslim League (PML) President and former Prime Minister Senator Ch Shujat Hussain and senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi at their residence today and exchanged views at length regarding prevailing political situation.

During the meeting, there was consensus that the Constitution and law were superior, it should be implemented, individuals keep coming and going. Briefing the media afterwards, Ch Parvez Elahi said Asif Ali Zardari also endorsed that Model Town tragedy was great oppression and the effected people should be given justice.

He heartily expressed gratitude to Asif Ali Zardari on his own and behalf of the party as it was for the first time that any chief of Peoples Party arrival at their residence. On arrival Asif Ali Zardari and accompanying leaders Khurshid Shah, Raza Rabbani, Aitzaz Ahsan and Rahman Malik were warmly greeted by Ch Shujat Hussain, Ch Parvez Elahi, Shafay Hussain, Salik Hussain and Rasikh Elahi.

Ch Parvez Elahi said that prior to the meeting we had consulted Dr Tahirul Qadri, Allama Raja Nasir Abbas and Sahibzada Hamid Raza and emphasized on Asif Ali Zardari to support the demands of the alliance which included registration of FIR of Model Town tragedy, end of the govts of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif and establishment of the national government. On this, Asif Ali Zardari said that they were in contact with all and would announce line of action after consultation within the party.

Ch Parvez Elahi further stated in the briefing that they had also delivered message of Dr Tahirul Qadri to Asif Ali Zardari. It is worth mentioning that Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was also a member of Minhaj ul Quran. He said that till the acceptance of their demands not only sit-ins (dharnas) would continue but also the number of the participants was increasing every day.

He said that democracy was the name of attitudes and this was the attitude of Asif Ali Zardari due to which his government had completed five years whereas democracy of Sharif family in the form of making life of the people miserable, targeting opponents with bullets, dearness, increasing lawlessness, Model Town tragedy and in the form of containers was before everyone, end of his government would derail Sharif family, and not democracy.
