Hindus rally against kidnappings for ransom

QUETTA - Unabated incidents of kidnappings for ransom have compelled the Hindu community to take to the streets in Quetta.
Hundreds of members of Hindu community, including children gathered outside Quetta Press Club to protest the killing of Ravi Kumar whose bullet-riddled body was recovered few days back from Quetta.
Ravi Kumar was kidnapped by unidentified people few months back and he was shot dead after his relatives could not pay the ransom amount.
Later, the protesters carrying placards inscribed with slogans such as ‘Have
mercy on us’ and ‘Protect minorities in Balochistan’, marched through various roads of the City and held a protest demo outside the main gate of Balochistan Assembly.
Addressing the protestors, a senior member of Hindu community and Human Rights activist Shaam Kumar lambasted the rulers, saying Hindus had been living in Pakistan before and after its formation, and they had contributed a lot in the development of the country.
But, he regretted that the Hindu community had been made subject of kidnappings for ransom. He said it was the responsibility of the members of civil society to come forward and strongly condemn the murder of Ravi Kumar and kidnapping of other people.
