Magisterial powers return anti-people, says Danial

QUETTA - Former National Reconstruction Bureau chairman Danial Aziz has termed the restoration of magisterial powers an anti-people step.
“The decision of Balochistan High Court (BHC) against it was historical,” he said while addressing lawyers at Balochistan High Court on Thursday. Balochistan Bar Association President Daud Khan Kasi, senior lawyer Kamran Murtaza and Syed Nazir were also present.
Danial Aziz said that centralisation was one of the remains of colonial period while restoration of magisterial powers was an anti-people step. He said that local government system had been formed but the delay in LG elections was disappointing.
“Flaws, if any, in the system should be removed,” he added.
Nazir Agha said the buildings of district bars had not been constructed in different districts of Balochistan and called for practical steps so that lawyers could render their services to help people get justice.
Since people have pined hopes on the judiciary, lawyers will continue to serve, he added.
