LG polls in couple of months: Khattak

PESHAWAR - Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Parvez Khattak, has asserted that the new Local Government system will empower the people and ensure availability basic civic facilities at their doorsteps.
He further stated that there was nothing for the masses in the LG systems introduced by Punjab and Sindh provinces instead it is a fraud and drama with the people. "Still other provinces do not agree to hold LG polls soon while we are going to hold lections in KPK in coming couple of months," he added.
He was talking to delegation of the reconciliatory committee of PTI that called on him at CM House Peshawar with Younas Zaheer, general secretary PTI district Peshawar as the head. Members of the delegation apprised the chief minister of certain problems of the people of Peshawar as well as those faced by PTI workers to which the CM assured proper resolution and issued on the spot directives on some of them.
Khattak asked the workers to be alive to the challenging situation. He said the people of this province are faced with the continuous challenge of terror and unrest in the province. He said that provincial government was taking all-out steps with much care to sort out of this issue and the time is not far when there will be peace and tranquility here. He said the people also had to suffer from health, education and so many other problems due to ill and ad hoc policies of the past regimes. However he assured the new LG system would prove panacea to all their hardships and would ensure a clean and healthy environment in heir surroundings with all basic amenities available at their doorsteps.
He said, "Our LG system would emerge as a role model for other provinces too." He asked the workers to start preparations for LG polls. He said overwhelming success of PTI in forthcoming LG elections was essential to provide real fruits of this system to the masses. He said, "Our LG system would remove the 60 years sense of deprivation of the poor as all the financial and administrative powers were being transferred to the LG representatives under it."
The chief minister also tasked the reconciliatory committee members to work for settling disputes and differences among the party workers, leaders and assembly members. He said all party workers had to shun their petty differences and forge unity among their ranks to serve masses accordingly. He asked for giving him daily reports about reconciliatory efforts of the committee. He further asked for informing him about any intervention needed on his part as well while he would also seek help of the central party leadership including Imran Khan if required.
Younas Zaheer thanked the chief minister for the enormous trust reposing in him and his committee. He assured that he and all the committee members would endeavour to come true to this confidence and discharging the responsibility of reconciliation accordingly. He told Khattak that popularity of the KPK government and PTI is on the rise due implementation of reforms agenda in letter and spirit. He said visible changes are seen in Thanas, Patwars and other departments as well as behaviours of the officials while people openly acknowledge of the relief they are getting in officialdom as such.
He claimed PTI will clean sweep the forthcoming LG polls owing to such outstanding performance of the provincial government.
