Man seeks philanthropists help for ailing son’s treatment

KHYBER AGENCY – A man has appealed to philanthropists to assist him in treatment of his nine-year-old son, suffering from fatal liver diseases for the last eight years.He said Rs 3.5 million has been estimated as expenditure for his treatment. “Being a daily wager I cannot afford the expensive cure. Philanthropists assist me in saving of my lonely son’s life.” Khan Afzal, tribesman of tehsil Landi Kotal, Khyber Agency, hailing from Mukhtar khel area while narrating his misfortune said, for the last twenty years his children have got a fatal disease of liver, medically known is Glycogen storage disease. Eleven of his children including eight sons and three daughters have dead so far of the illness, he lamented. Khan Afzal further said that now his only surviving child, Imran, 9 have involved in the disease and has been under treatment in Sheikh Zaid Hospital, Lahore. Talking on phone from the hospital Khan said, the doctors have calculated Rs 3.5m inside the country treatment while in abroad it will cost Rs 6.6m.  Burst in tears the father of the only son said, for the normal cure in the hospital he has been taking lend or charity from relatives and donors. “I along with my wife are ready to sell our bodies organs to save the life of our son, he remarked.” 

He appealed to the President, CM KPK, Political Agent Khyber, MNA from the constituency and other supporters NGOs to extend financial supports to him for saving his lonely son’s life. The child relatives can be contacted on this cell phone no 0302-8813083.Sharing information Dr Abdusattar in Agency headquarter hospital Landi Kotal said, when a human eat extra food it is store as Glycogen and when it is needed it again covert to glucose for utilisation. But in Glycogen Storage disease, the Glycogen does not function properly and additional food store in other organs, he added.
