Nandipur power plant shown functional

Minister of State for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali said that Nandipur power plant is in working position as its first turbine is still producing 95 megawatts, adding that the PTI leaders statements regarding shutting down of the plant are part of propaganda against the government.
He was addressing a press conference at Nandipur power project site on Wednesday. He said that due to completion work of other turbines, first turbine of the project had to shut down temporarily on technical grounds for a short period and in fact was still giving 95 megawatts to national grid. He said the unit would be converted from diesel to furnace oil till September which will help decrease its per unit rates.
Abid Sher said that the media was eyewitness that the plant was in working position while Imran Khan was giving wrong statements to hoodwink the nation. He said the PTI government had completely failed in KP and its leaders were busy acting as street boys and giving baseless statements against the federal government.
He said the present government was trying to bring the country out of crises and power projects were being completed in different parts of the country. During his visit to Gepco Headquarters, its chief executive briefed the minister on various issues. He said that Gepco had completely upgraded the system as seven grid stations had been completed while four others shall be completed till end of August 2014. The minister asked the  officers and staff to work hard and stop electricity theft. He said on the instructions of Prime Minister that the officers having good performance in respect of recovery shall be given awards and cash prizes.
On the other side, the PTI leaders have alleged massive corruption committed in executing Nandipur power project. They alleged the Nandipur power project was the biggest fraud the PML-N government had committed.
