'City wardens a sense of security for Karachiites

KARACHI Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed has said that citizens of Karachi feel themselves secure in the presence of city wardens at roads and roundabouts which is a proof of their success. City wardens have within a short time earned positive name due to lot of service to citizens, especially in controlling traffic with the traffic police. He expressed these views while addressing city wardens during a visit to the headquarters of city wardens on Pakistan Day where he also performed national flag hoisting ceremony. Administrator Karachi said that 23rd March is an important day in our national history when the leaders of Pakistan Movement unanimously approved the Pakistan Resolution and demanded establishment of a separate country for the Muslims of Subcontinent. On this occasion Administrator Karachi also announced Rs 100,000 financial help to injured city wardens who were fired upon recently while performing their duty. He said that city government will also bear all the expenditures incurred on their medical treatment. He said that the government was aware of the problems facing by the newly created City Wardens Department and these will be solved gradually. He said that the construction of barracks in City Wardens Headquarter would start from the next month. Meanwhile, Administrator Karachi Muhammad Hussain Syed has signed the earth hour charter to declare Karachi as an Earth Hour City. He said that we join Earth Hour with global fraternity to show our commitment for the cause of better environment and our unity against global warming and climate change. We are proud to declare Karachi as Earth Hour City to stand firmly against environmental degradation. He also pledged to observe this event with its true spirit and said we would appeal to as maximum people as we can to switch off lights voluntarily at 8:30 p.m on Saturday on 26th March 2011. As a responsible member of the world community we would take the commitment of Earth Hour beyond this event to hand over this world to our next generation as a better place to live.
