GHOTKI – A breach established in a canal submerged at least 40 houses in Wedera Sodha Goth near Bajrahwali here on Saturday.
Reportedly, residents of Wadera Goth Soda were caught by a surprise when the embankment of a rainy canal breached near their village and inundated their houses.
The residents, along their cattle, found shelter at nearby sand piles but are facing danger as the water level was still rising. No effort from the government has yet been made to plug the breach.
Lack of repair of the banks due to alleged laxity on the part of irrigation department is said to be the cause of the breach.
The residents have demanded the government to respond immediately and start relief activities as the water submerged in the area could ignite different epidemics.
