Tree plantation starts in Bannu


BANNU  - Commissioner Bannu Division, Syed Ameer-ud-Din Shah stressed upon the officials to focus plantation drive of each and every season for increasing the area of forests in Bannu division and South Waziristan Agency (SWA).He expressed these views in a meeting here on Friday with Chief Conservator Forests Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Afsarullah Wazir. Divisional Forests Officer Farhatullah, Assistant District Forests Officer, Safeerullah Khan, Range Officer FR Bannu Sher Amanullah Khan were also present on the occasion.Commissioner said forests could play a vital role in strengthening of national economy and all concerned officials should utilized their energies in this regard. On the occasion, Chief Conservator Forests said four schemes of forestry are underway in SWA  and 1.258 million saplings have been planted in current year. He said that .254 million saplings have also been planted in Bannu and Lakki Marwat under three ongoing projects.The meeting was briefed that concerted efforts are being made to increased forests in southern districts including North and South Waziristan.  Later Commissioner planted Aloe Caria  and inaugurated monsoon tree plantation campaign.
