KARACHI - Two policemen were martyred late on Sunday when unidentified armed men opened fire at a police mobile during snap checking near Nagan Chowrangi, North Karachi, in the limits of Sir Syed Police Station.
According to police sources, Assistant Sub-Inspector Wazir Ali and Constable Rashid Hussain intercepted two motorcycle riders for checking who opened fire at them and fled.
The bodies of the police officials were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities. The police have started investigation into the incident.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, in a statement, expressed grief over the killing of the two police officials at Nagan Chowrangi.
He paid tribute to ASI Wazir Ali and Constable Rashid on their bravery and sense of responsibility. The Chief Minister said he will soon announce compensation for the heirs of the martyred policemen.
