Police register cases after Peshawar plane attack

PESHAWAR- Peshawar police today registered cases against unidentified men for the attack on a passenger plane at Peshawar airport.

On Tuesday, gunmen fired on Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-756 while it was landing at the Bacha Khan International Airport, killing a woman and injuring two others, including a crew member. The plane was carrying 178 passengers and crewmembers, and was travelling from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Flight operations resumed at the airport after 11 hours. However, three international flights were diverted to Islamabad from Peshawar.

More than 500 suspects have been arrested so far in the ongoing search operation by security forces in the Budh Bher area of the city.

According to the initial report on the incident, the PIA plane was hit 10 times, however, the pilot managed to land the aircraft safely three minutes after the attack.

A compensation package was also announced for the victims of the attack.
