QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch on Thursday said that polio is a fatal disease and it could be eradicated completely if people support government in this regard. Addressing a joint press conference at chief minister’s secretariat flanked by provincial health minister Rehmat Baloch, Dr Atta-ur-Rehman and others, he said that polio is incurable disease but through regular vaccination we could save the children from this deadly disease.
He regretted that the polio virus had been removed almost from entire world except a couple of countries, including Pakistan and the virus was being battled in Balochistan and other provinces. CM Balochitan said that polio affected children became paralyze for entire life therefore in order to protect our children from polio they should be vaccinated that would help to get rid this lethal virus. He also stressed upon media to play its role in creating awareness among the people about polio vaccination. Provincial Health Minister Rehmat Baloch said that Polio Day was being marked worldwide today which was aimed at to create awareness about the disease and get rid of it. Therefore, he said we had got approved a resolution from provincial assembly that polio day would be organized in all schools and polio vaccination card would be mandatory t while enrolling children to schools.
He said that district Qila Abdullah, Pishin and Naseerabad were more polio-virus sensitive districts of Balochistan, however, no polio case had been reported from Balochistan this year. Baloch appealed people to cooperate with the polio teams and let them vaccinate childe without any fear.–Staff Reporter
