MIRPUR - Hundreds of Mangla Dam affectees, who were protesting for the acceptance of their demands, made hostage more than a dozen of senior officials of Wapda and District Administration as they went for the inspection of a dyke in Chaksawari, constituency of AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Abdul Majid.
According to details, as the Wapda Chief Engineer, DIG, Deputy Commissioner, SSP, District and Municipal Administration officers of Mirpur reached Paniam in Chakswari, hundreds of affectees of Mangla Dam surrounded them, forcing them to take refuge in the house of son-in-law of the AJK prime minister. All the efforts to negotiate with the protesting affectees to lift the siege failed for five and a half hours.
