BAHAWALPUR - Deputy Prime Minister Chaudhry Parvaiz Elahi as usual criticised the Punjab government addressing a public gathering in Yazman here on Monday.
He said that all the schemes of the Punjab government were based on "Sheik Chilli's ideology" but he did not explain what the term meant. He added that all the Punjab schemes had failed including "Sasti Roti Scheme" and "Ashiyana Scheme."
"Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif had spent funds of the Punjab development on the Metro Bus Service project. He said that the iron used in the project was purchased from the Itefaq Foundry.
He alleged that a huge corruption had been carried out in the project and because of the corruption Shahbaz Sharif would go to jail. He said that the whole country was protesting as salaries of the government employees are not being increased for a long time.
The deputy premier suggested that if the PML-N wanted to win the upcoming elections, it would have to restart the projects launched by the last government.
He added that in their-5 year tenure, 37,600 kilometers of roads were constructed while in the rest of the 55 years only 3,200 kilometers of roads were constructed.
He said that the current government was allotting lands to the people of Cholistan at Rs70,000 per acre while during the last government, 6,000 plots of 12 acres each were allotted in Cholistan free of cost. He said that if came to power, his party would continue the policy.
He said that during his tenure as the Punjab chief minister, Rs9 billion was spent on Bahawalpur Division while projects of Rs700 million were completed by then district nazim Tariq Basheer. He added that they completed development projects in 4,000 union counsels in Punjab's rural areas.
He said, "We made education free and if elected we will ensure free education till matriculation. Punjab CM and Nawaz Sharif were carrying out anti-farmers policy as for gunny bags, the farmers have to stand in long queues.
In our tenure, we purchased every grain of wheat from the farmers. We gave subsidy on the tube-wells expenditure to 20% while the current government has withdrawn the subsidy. After coming to power, we will establish public service commission in Bahawalpur and will fix employment quota for the people in Bahawalpur," he pledged.
