KHANEWAL: - The district police claimed to have busted 88 criminal gangs and recovered stolen goods worth Rs280 million from their possession during 2011.
District Police Officer Muhammad Waqar Abbasi told newsman that the police had achieved a lot targets throughout the district, and that was the year of success and achievements against crimes and criminals with the grace of Allah.
“Our target was to capture inter district criminal gangs and also to recover stolen good. We have recovered stolen goods,” he added. “Drug trafficking is one of the main menaces of our society, and during the year special instructions were given to all the SHOs to launch crack down against drug pushers, but not against drug edicts.”
He explained that as many 908 cases were registered and huge quantity of drugs were seized and sellers are behind the bars. He also added that 892 cases of illegal weapons were registered and the police had recovered 4 Kalashnikovs, 139 guns of 12bore, 76 guns, 571 pistols, 44 revolvers, 43 carbines, 10 knives, and 3,118 bullets. The police have also arrested 2,589 offenders, 749 judicial absconders and two Pos namely Fida Hussain alias Fida Ragh and Kamran alias Kami.
