KARACHI - Chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Maulana Fazlur Rehman has disclosed that matters related to the formation of a caretaker government prior to elections have already been decided and settled as the general elections will be held in coming September or October this year.
He, however, did not elaborate further about the caretaker government which is expected to takeover the administrative reign of the country before general elections. Talking to the newsmen on his arrival at Jinnah International Airport on Wednesday, he said he wanted early elections but those should be fair, transparent and independent. Maulana, who is in the City to supervise and finalise the arrangements of January 28 ‘Islam Zindabad Rally’ which will be held near Mazar-e-Quaid, said that the rally would be a historical one, adding, that it would leave a significant impact on the politics of the entire country.
He expressed his reservations regarding the completion of computerised voters lists and said that the lists would not be completed by May despite claims and assurance of Election Commission of Pakistan. Responding to question regarding revival of Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) and addressing those who were demanding big position in religious alliance, he said they should wait for alliance’s revival. He asked Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Munawwar Hassan to withdraw his alleged demand for MMA Chairmanship. He said who would lead MMA would only be decided after the revival and restoration of the alliance.
Answering questions on Memogate scandal, he said appearance of Mansoor Ijaz before the Commission would have been in favour of the country but, added, it would not matter if Mansoor Ijaz came to Pakistan or not.
On his arrival at Karachi Airport, a number of local JUI (F) leaders were also present at the airport to receive him.
