Gas leakage blast kills 7 in Peshawar

PESHAWAR – At least seven persons including two women and a child were killed and two others got injured critically when a house collapsed due to gas leakage blast in Shahqabool Colony here on Wednesday.
Sources said that most of the family members were asleep when the tragic incident occurred due accumulation of gas inside a room. As a result, seven persons including a woman in the neighbour was also killed while another was injured.
Soon after the incident, the rescue squad and Edhi ambulances rushed to the site and started rescue activities and shifted the injured to Lady Reading Hospital. Those killed were identified as Nazar Mohammad (45), wife of Nazar Mohammad (35), Atia (12), Aiman (9), Waqar (8), Asma (13) and Maryam (23) while the injured were identified as Irshah Rahman (29) and Samin Jan (25).
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Imtiaz told media persons that the explosion, took place at around 4:45am, was the result of a gas leakage. He said that the roof of the double-story building collapsed, killing five people from the same family.
