Students’ sufferings

LAKKI MARWAT  - Students of Working Folks Grammar Higher Secondary School Naurang on Saturday held a demonstration in the school to record their protest against the teachers' boycott of classes.
Teachers of the school went on strike against the non-payment of salaries to the teaching and non-teaching staff of the school for the last three moths. "The employees of the school including teachers are without salaries for the last three months," said a teacher wishing not to be named.
He said that the matter was brought into the notice of high-ups concerned several times but no one paid heed to resolve the salary related issue. Another teacher said that non-payment of salaried had confronted the employees with financial problems as they were facing hardships to make both ends meet."
All employees including teachers are performing duty but for how long they will wait for salaries," he asked. He told that teachers and other employees of the school had no option other than to boycott classes and work as it had become difficult for them to fulfil basic needs of their families.
On the other side classes' boycott by teachers angered the students. They came out of classrooms and assembled in the compound.
They damaged furniture and windowpanes and also raised slogans to press the teachers to end their strike and resume taking classes.
Meanwhile, parents expressed concern over the teachers' protest and said that annual examination would take place after two months and in such circumstances classes boycott by teachers would destroy the future of their children. They asked the government to look into the matter and accept the demands of teachers.
