WASHINGTON - Pakistan's Ambassador to the United States Jalil Abbas Jilani spoke to the family of Babar Suleman and his son Haris Suleman to convey, on behalf of the Prime Minister, the Government of Pakistan and his own behalf the deepest condolences on the tragic loss of life in their plane crash near American Samoa in the Pacific.
He assured the bereaved family of his full support and cooperation and informed them that Pakistan Embassy had been in contact with the relevant US authorities for the expeditious transfer of the body of Haris to his hometown and for the search of his father’s remains, the Pakistani Embassy here said.
The diplomat informed them that the US authorities have also assured the Embassy of extending full support and cooperation in this regard.
Ambassador Jilani lauded the contribution of Haris Suleman, young Pakistani-American pilot and his father Babar Suleman for promoting the noble cause of education in Pakistan. He said that it was a great loss for the family and the entire nation shared their grief and pain in this difficult time.
He said their sacrifice will always be remembered.
Meanwhile, sister of Haris, Hiba thanked supporters on the Facebook and said that the family were still waiting for the news on her father.
'I'd like to thank everyone for their support of my father and brother throughout this trip, as well as for the support given to my mom, brother and myself as we waited for their safe return,' she wrote.
'Haris and my dad's plane went down upon take off in American Samoa. Haris has been found - he did not make it. My father has not yet been found.
Please pray that my dad is found alive and well. Also, hug your siblings and parents - tell them you love them, a hundred times. A thousand times.'
